Robert Burns

Dear comrades and friends,
As you are doubtless aware, the Morning Star – as the daily paper of the Left and Labour Movement in Britain – seeks to remember, popularise, and celebrate the glorious history of progressive struggle in Britain of the many decades and centuries past. It is with this goal in mind that we wish to commemorate the 258th anniversary of the birth of Robert Burns.
Robert Burns (25 January 1759 – 21 July 1796) was a Scottish poet and lyricist. He is widely regarded as the national poet of Scotland and is celebrated worldwide. He is remembered as a pioneer of the romantic movement, a great source of inspiration to the founders of both liberalism and socialism, a champion of progressive change, and a cultural icon of the Scottish nation.

Please contact us to advertise your local ‘Burns Night’ cultural event in the pages of the Morning Star, as well as any other adverts in celebration and commemoration of the life and work of Robert Burns.
